Multiple Piece Wall Systems
Segmental Retaining Walls or SRW's have changed drastically throughout the years. At first these types of wall systems were used as a cheaper alternative to concrete walls which typically had to be veneered in some type of material in order to have any type of visual appeal. This further added to the cost so a cheaper and better looking alternative was well received. Being a concrete block, the SRW was able to have a split face or texturized appearence as part of its manufacturing process. As SRW's progressed, many different designs came and went. The open core design became more prominent as did the multiple piece wall systems. The random look or Ashlar Pattern became very popular with pavers and tile and so it was a natual fit for retaining walls. The only problem was the different molds required to make each piece and would it be a powerful enough in a structural wall application? GeoStone solved this problem by not creating another wall system or even adding another block to the lineup, but by giving the installer a way to modify the blocks already available. This wall system has proven to be one of the most cost effective Ashlar wall systems available on the market today. And by retaining its core, the wall system retains its ability to interlock with itself as well as the geogrids.
The GeoStone Landscape Retaining Wall Module was designed for easy installation and maximum
flexibility. Simply follow the instructions in the Landscape
Wall Installation Guide and you can create a beautiful addition
to the landscape of your property. The GeoStone Landscape block is
a structural module and can be used to construct walls reaching major
heights. If you plan to meet / exceed four feet in height, have loading on
top of the wall, or are working with a slope in front or behind the wall, consult your dealer
for reinforcing instructions. A guide to installation of a fully
structural, reinforced, load-bearing GeoStone wall can be downloaded here.
